Student Support Services Student Support Services is a program at MTC to help first generation students. Basically that means that my parents did not go to college, so I could be eligible for the program. I had inquired with them before but hadn’t completed enough credit hours to be eligible for their assistance. You have to have completed 20% of your program credits, plus be financially eligible and other criteria, to participate. I was now eligible. I spoke with a wonderful lady named Laura. She told me that simply being a part of SSS means that I will receive a scholarship. She also mentioned some other scholarships she can help me apply for. Best of all, she offered me the opportunity to apply to be a mentor to other students in those courses I have already completed. I’m looking forward to both the help I can give and the help I can receive. |
