What to expect during enrollment

Now that my scheduling, financial and placement issues have resolutions let’s get to registration. I made the decision to return to school in August. I filled out and sent in the FAFSA online shortly after. I got my acceptance letter and took my placement tests. By then the regular registration period was over. It would be late registration for me.

Let me take this time to tell you that you do not want to be a part of the late registration process. It is hectic, busy, crowded, and if you are here for the first time, not really sure what you are doing, it is very very intimidating. I know now that when you register in a timely manner you are assigned an advisor. That advisor meets with you, finds out your goals and what you hope to achieve here at MTC. They take you through the process. My second semester at MTC was much better planned than the first.

In my first semester I took business courses instead of the core study courses. Not a major mistake since I will eventually need them anyway but it would have been easier on me to take the core courses first. Those all transfer to other schools and provide skills in both the relevant course and in the general student repertoire of note taking, planning, and execution, which will help you in later courses.
