Submission Guidelines for Stylus 2009--Special Issue
The 2009 issue of Stylus will focus on the creative work of military veterans enrolled at Midlands Technical College
Cash prizes awarded in the following categories:
short stories • poetry • creative nonfiction • art • photography • websites • videos
Deadline: 20 March 2009
how to submit written material
Submit all text (i.e., short stories, poems, essays) in MS Word or RTF (rich text format). Your name, email address, and a phone number should be typed at the top of the first page of each submission. If you are submitting multiple items, you may combine them as one file if you wish.
Email these as attachments to Travis Gordon. In your email message, please include the following information: (1) full name; (2) mailing address; (3) phone number; (4) MTC student ID number; and (5) a brief description of each item you are submitting.
how to submit art and photography
We prefer high-resolution digital scans of art and photography (600 dpi tiff files if possible). Send these as email attachments and include in your message the following information: (1) full name; (2) mailing address; (3) phone number; (4) MTC student ID number; and (5) a brief description of each piece of art or photograph.
If you are unable to produce digital versions, you may submit original artwork (without mats or frames) and prints of photographs. Please call the editor to arrange this. You may retrieve these only after the 2009 issue has been printed.
how to submit websites and videos
To submit a website or a video for the competition, email the editor with the following information in your message: (1) full name; (2) street mailing address; (3) phone number; (4) MTC student ID number; and (5) a brief description of the work and your role in creating it. If a website, give the URL. If a video, please arrange to deliver a copy on DVD. If you have mounted the video on a website, give the URL.
