How to create your homepage with Expressions Web, available in most classrooms and other computers on campus.

  1. Email Cheryl Kirkpatrick (kirkpatrickc@midlandstech.edu) and copy Bruce Martin (martinb@midlandstech.edu) requesting a folder on the departmental Website.
  2. Download the template and extract it from the .zip file. In other words, save WebPageTemplate.zip to your hard drive, open Windows Explorer, find and click on WebPageTemplate.zip and click "Extract all files". They should all show up in a folder named WebPageTemplate.
  3. Open Expressions Web
  4. Open the Website by clicking on the "File" menu, then "Open Site", then, for the Site Name, if "jones" is your name, enter http://www.midlandstech.edu/edu/ed/ism/jones
  5. You will be prompted for a username and password. These are as provided by Cheryl Kirkpatrick. Remember the "SOS\" part at the beginning of your username.
  6. Open the template by clicking on the "File" menu, then "Open", then click on "My Documents" or "My Computer" as needed and find the WebPageTemplate folder. Click on and open staticFacultyTemplate.html
  7. Click the "File" menu, then "Save As", then "Current Site" and change the filename to "default.html" and save it. It will also prompt you to "Save Embedded Files". Click OK.
  8. Edit only in the central grey area.
  9. Click on "Your Name" and replace it with your name.
  10. Fix the email address.
  11. Delete or fix the phone number.
  12. Right click on the picture, select "Picture Properties" and browse to a picture of yourself. Resize it if you need to.
  13. For each of your courses
    1. Add the course number at the beginning of the line.
    2. Select the "Syllabus" link, click the link icon (a globe with 3 links of a chain) and change the address to match your course.
    3. Select the "Addendum" link, click the link icon, and change the link to the name of your addendum file.
    4. Delete extra lines, or copy and paste more of them.
  14. Add your degrees and certifications.
  15. Save, agree to save embedded files, and exit.
