COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course emphasizes development of proficiency
in integrating knowledge and skills performed in legal offices.
COURSE OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this course the student will:
1. Transcribe mailable letters and manuscripts from machine dictation.
2. Demonstrate effective procedures for handling telephone duties in a legal office.
3. Demonstrate the ability to handle receptionist duties in a legal office.
4. Demonstrate the ability to create and maintain an office calendar for a legal office to keep up with appointments, time and place of court appearances, deadlines, and other important duties.
5. Create and maintain law office files, including client financial records and office financial records.
6. Keyboard legal citations to support legal research.
7. Arrange meetings and conferences.

LATE ASSIGNMENTS: Assignments are to be turned in on or before the announced due date. Make-up tests will be given at the instructor=s discretion.
ATTENDANCE POLICY: The department policy will apply. The number of absences allowed is equal to twice the number of times the course meets per week.
NOTE: Students must earn a grade of "C" or better in all the courses offered within the Information Systems Department in order for the grade to be counted toward graduation.

Please check frequently in changeable weather for closings and re-openings. If the College closing or reopening means that you will have at least 30 minutes of a class, you should come to class.
