COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course emphasizes procedures and applications used in the office environment.
COURSE OBJECTIVES: Upon
completion of this course, the student will:
1. Explain the features of today's automated office.
2. Describe the characteristics of a successful office professional.
3. Develop and use proper telephone techniques.
4. Explain the impact of telecommunications in today's office.
5. Identify and describe the various methods by which information is printed, reproduced, communicated, distributed, stored, retrieved, and maintained in the business office.
6. Identify mail classifications and mail services.
7. Define the responsibilities of the office professional for meetings and conferences.
8. Describe the duties involved in making travel arrangements and preparing itineraries.
9. Describe the office professional's responsibilities in preparing basic financial documents.
10. Describe the elements needed for effective oral and written presentations.

LATE ASSIGNMENTS: Assignments are to be turned in on or before the announced due date. Late work will be accepted at the discretion of the instructor.
ATTENDANCE POLICY: The departmental policy will apply. The number of absences allowed is equal to twice the number of times the course meets per week.
NOTE: Students must earn a grade of "C" or better in all the courses offered within the Information Systems Department in order for the grade to be counted toward graduation.

Please check frequently in changeable weather for closings and re-openings. If the College closing or reopening means that you will have at least 30 minutes of a class, you should come to class.
