MATERIALS NEEDED:
* An ISP (Internet Service Provider.
* Netscape 4.05 to 4.7x or MS Internet
Explorer 5.0 or higher.
* Computer capable of running Microsoft
Office 2007.
* Microsoft Office 2007 software.(Word 2007,
Excel 2007, and Access 2007)
* Storage Media. A USB (Universal Serial
Bus) device is recommended for storage
of coursework.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course introduces microcomputer word processing. Topics include creating, editing, formatting, and printing documents. Emphasis is placed on functions for acceptable document formatting and processing. Microsoft Word 2007 is used in this course.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to use Microsoft
Word 2007's features to perform the following tasks:
1. Create, print and edit documents.
2. Format characters and paragraphs and use Help.
3. Format pages, documents, and sections.
4. Maintain and print documents.
5. Use writing tools.
6. Manipulate tabs.
7. Manipulate text within and between documents.
8. Format with special features.
9. Create headers and footers in a document.
10. Create footnotes and endnotes.
11. Merge documents.
12. Create and format tables.
13. Sort and select data.
14. Create and format charts.
15. Insert images, shapes, and WordArt.
GRADING SCALE:
A = 94 - 100
B = 87 - 93
C = 78 - 86
F = 0 - 77
All projects must be turned in on or before the due date. No projects will be accepted after the due dates. No incomplete grades will be given. Everyone must take the final exam. Any deviation from this policy must be authorized by the Department Chairman.
ATTENDANCE POLICY: The departmental policy will apply. The number of absences allowed is equal to twice the number of times the course meets per week.
NOTE: Students must earn a grade of a "C" or better in all the courses offered within the Information Systems Department in order for the grade to be counted toward graduation.

The College may be closed because of inclement weather. This news should be available on the website at www.midlandstech.edu, at the main phone number at 738-1400, and announced on WIS-TV and radio. Please check frequently in changeable weather for closings and re-openings. If the College closing or reopening means that you will have at least 30 minutes of a class, you should come to class. Please do not call the IST Department office or the President’s office with closure questions.
