  1. Who can register for distance learning courses?
Distance learning courses are available to all students.  Complete the self-assessment test, 'Is Distance Learning For Me?', to assess whether this mode of learning is appropriate for you.  Some courses have prerequisites or enrollment requirements.  Review the course descriptions in the current catalog.
  2. When does my class begin?
Distance learning courses follow the same schedule as on-campus courses.  There is a mandatory orientation (on-line or face-to-face), for all distance courses.  Check the orientation information for the course (Internet or VCR) in which you plan to enroll.
  3. Do I need to apply to the college before I can register for a distance learning course?
Yes.  Contact the admissions office about admission requirements. A placement test may be required before registering for classes.
  4. Can I complete a course earlier or later than the specified time?
No.  Although the courses are completed at home, due dates for assignments, homework and tests are set by the instructor.
  5. Is a textbook required for a distance learning course?
Most of the classes (online or vcr) require textbooks.  The instructor will cover textbook requirements during orientation.  Textbooks are available at both Airport and Beltline bookstores.
  6. What if I begin a distance learning course, and decide it is not appropriate for me?
You may drop/withdraw from a distance learning class at any time during the semester.  A withdrawal form must be submitted to the records office. The date the withdrawal form is submitted may affect the tuition refund and the grade received for the course.
  7. How will I be tested?
Tests are generally taken at the Student Assessment Center located on both Airport and Beltline campuses.  Your test may be in the form of a written exam or an on-line exam.  In the case of the written exam, you will receive the exam when you arrive at the the testing center.  For an online exam, you will be directed to a computer workstation where you will log-on to your WebCT course.  WebCT exams may be protected by a password maintained by the proctor at the testing center.  If this is the case, the proctor will enter the password for you.
