A South Carolina Board of Dentistry Approved Course
Nitrous Oxide - Oxygen Monitoring is a course that has been designed by the
faculty of the Midlands Technical College Allied Dental Education Programs
to meet the requirements necessary for participants to take the S.C. Board
of Dentistry exam on Nitrous Oxide - Oxygen Monitoring.

Pre-Course Requirements: Each participant must submit verification of a
simulated N2O-O2 monitoring exercise directed by their dentist. The required
form for validating this simulation is sent to you as part of the workbook
once registration has been received. Viewing the video and studying the
companion workbook prior to the course is essential for success. Credentials
acceptable for enrollment: RDH, CDA, transcript from dentist verifying 2
years chairside assisting, or letter from dentist verifying 2 years
chairside assisting.
The Course: An instructional video and companion workbook will be mailed to
each participant. This video course format will require 4 hours: 1 hour text
reading time; 1 hour video viewing time and 1/2 hour study of companion
lecture note; 1/2 hour clinical competency verification by a supervising
dentist; 1 hour pre-test learning session.
The Exam: Successful completion of this course will meet the criteria to
take the South Carolina Board of Dentistry Nitrous Oxide-Oxygen Monitoring
exam. This exam will be given at Midlands Technical College to course
participants who successfully complete the MTC course test that same day.
