About the Career

Architectural engineering technicians play an important role in the construction and building design industries. Architects rely on technicians to perform the duties generally oriented to architectural applications in construction and drafting. Architectural engineering technicians can find employment assisting architects, engineers and municipal planners, and in various capacities as draftspersons, estimators, field engineers, surveyors and inspectors, specification writers, salespersons, appraisers and field layout personnel. The technician typically applies computer-aided drafting and design (CAD) techniques as well as skills and knowledge in 3D modeling and rendering, building assemblies, specifications, construction detailing, building codes and practices, construction materials and processes.
