MTC Center for Advanced Welding Technologies
Imagine the tremendous sense of pride welders feel when they see the fruits of their labor…a building or structure that will stand for dozens of years. Few careers come with the built-in satisfaction and opportunities found in professional welding. Professional welders are in high demand and typically earn higher than average wages and can choose from projects throughout the state, country and the world. Locally, the nuclear reactor projects beginning around South Carolina and neighboring states will employ hundreds of welders for the years to come.
Become a welding professional through Midlands Technical College's evening or daytime welding program. Classes are taught in accordance with AWS.D1.1 standards and ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) Section IX. Official AWS Certifications can be obtained through an accredited technical college. Personal equipment needs will be discussed at the first class (an additional student cost of approximately $300). Eighty-five percent attendance, 70 percent test score average and satisfactory proficiency test performance are required for successful completion of all welding courses.
MTC has many education and training opportunities to get you started or to help you advance your existing skills.
