Academic Policies and Requirements
Registration begins approximately one week after midterm of the preceding term and is designed to establish student/advisor rapport in a relaxed environment and to allow students to complete the registration process in a nonstressful time frame. After acceptance to the college, students are notified by the Admissions Office to meet with their advisors to discuss academic progress and select courses. Students who have been given program plans by their advisors may self-schedule in the scheduling centers. After advisement and scheduling, students go to data entry to register for courses. To secure their seats in these classes, students must pay fees in person or by mail during the regular period stated in the class schedule. Students enrolling in Midlands Technical College for the first time must pay a one-time enrollment fee of $25. Students who have not paid fees by the specified date will have their schedules deleted and must reschedule courses during Late Registration.
Late Registration is held just before the beginning of classes. By this time, many classes may no longer be available. Students are encouraged to register and pay before the end of the regular registration period. Students are also assessed a fee for Late Registration.
Enrolled students may change their class schedules during the first three class days of the term; however, class selection at this time may be severely limited. Students are responsible for work covered from the first day of classes, and any classes missed are counted as absences.
The Class Schedule provides more detailed information about courses, times and fees.
