Student Services and Activities
Mission
The Financial Aid Office staff at Midlands Technical College is committed to providing quality service to students, the college and the community. We are dedicated to assisting students with their financial needs and serving the community in which the college is located.
Eligibility Requirements
To receive Federal Title IV assistance and state assistance, you must:
NOTE: You should save all records and other materials used in applying for aid because you may need them later if you are selected for a process called "verification."
You Will Receive
A Student Aid Report (SAR) will be mailed to you from the federal processor within four to six weeks from the time you submit your application for federal financial assistance. FOLLOW ANY INSTRUCTIONS AND MAKE ALL APPROPRIATE CORRECTIONS, if necessary. If no corrections are required, retain your SAR for your records. We will receive your record electronically from the federal processor.
Application Process
No financial aid award can be made until you have completed the application process. A complete application is defined as one that has been received, reviewed and found free from errors or not requiring additional information for verification.
Financial Aid Awards
Once your file is complete, you will be notified by mail if you will receive a financial aid award. The award notification will list the type(s) and amount(s) of assistance you will receive. If you receive state aid, you will be required to sign a certification/affidavit form and return it to the Financial Aid Office prior to disbursement. This form will be enclosed with your award notification.
All financial aid awards are subject to change if the information upon which they were based changes or federal regulations required a change.
Deadlines: To receive priority and maximum consideration for all forms of aid, you should complete the application process by April 15th (prior to the start, in the fall, of the first term of the award year).
Financial Aid Disbursements
All aid listed on your award letter, with the exception of a Federal Work Study award, will be credited to your student account. If a credit balance occurs after applying tuition, fees, and any other authorized charges, the Finance Office will issue a check within 3 days after the credit occurs. The check will be mailed to your home address (It is your responsibility to update your mailing address in the Records Office).
