Camp Catch Your Breath

Camp Catch Your Breath, where breathing easy makes all the difference.
Camp Catch Your Breath is a free one-day asthma camp for children aged 5-12 hosted by MTC's Respiratory Care students as a service learning project, in affiliation with the SC Asthma Alliance and Project Breathe Easy of Family Connection of SC.
When: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 16
Where: Drew Wellness Center, 2101 Walker Solomon Way, Columbia
Camp Catch Your Breath is a place to provide your child with the experience of a day camp while maintaining a healthy, medically safe environment where kids can have fun and learn about their asthma at the same time. Campers will learn how to avoid triggers, take medication properly, and follow and asthma action plan. Snacks, lunch, arts and crafts and group games will also be included. The camp includes a parent education session from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., conducted by the SC Asthma Alliance.

If you are a medical resident, nurse or respiratory therapist, you are eligible to volunteer.

Camp Catch Your Breath was initiated by the MTC Respiratory Care class of 2014. In its second year, MTC's Respiratory Care class of 2015 and 2016 are partnering with faculty and community organizations to provide awareness and free education about asthma to kids of the Midlands.
