Incubator participants will receive essentials needed to start their own business including: a business license; $1,000 dollars in total capitalization for starting their company; use of office space, equipment and furniture; and regular consultation and mentoring by USC and MTC business professionals.
Overview:
This is a unique opportunity for MTC students who have a business idea, but not the means to capitalize on it. Midlands Technical College is now accepting applications for up to two MTC students to be part of the USC/Columbia Technology Incubator. Highest consideration will be given to business ideas that incorporate technology or other innovative applications. Click here for more information.
Admission Criteria:
Just as required of USC
students, MTC students participate in a competitive process to
receive funding and support for their new business and the chance to
work with faculty to develop their ideas. For admission criteria

Since 1998, 28 businesses have gotten their start through USC’s Incubator program, including seven that are graduates. The program has created more than 225 jobs throughout the Midlands. USC’s incubator companies are involved in enterprises such as Internet learning, the production of silicon carbide graphic wafers for computers, medical monitoring, computer 3-D imaging and computer networking.
