Course Description- BAF 101 Personal Finance:   
This course includes the practical applications of concepts and techniques used in managing personal finances.  Major areas of study include financial planning, budgeting, credit use, housing, insurance, investments and retirement planning.

TEXTBOOK: Focus on Personal Finance, 2nd edition, by Kapoor, Dlabay,  and Hughes, McGraw-Hill

Course Outcomes and Competencies:
As part of the Business department’s ongoing student learning outcomes assessments activities the following outcomes and competencies have been developed for BAF 101:

Intended Course Outcome: Students will understand the concept of personal net worth and the tools and techniques necessary to accumulate net worth.

Course Competency: Students will demonstrate competence in defining and determining personal net worth and the role paid by credit, insurance, investments, and the time value of money in creating it.

 Performance Measurement Instrument: Standard questions on homework and exams that demonstrate the students' understanding of net worth, credit, insurance,
