Description:
ACC 202 Intermediate Accounting II:
This
course covers the application of accounting principles and concepts to
account evaluation and income determination, including special problems
peculiar to corporations and the analysis of financial reports.
Accounting for the acquisition and disposal of long-term assets and
procedures for handling current and long-term liabilities are covered.
(Prerequisite: ACC 201)
We cover eight chapters: 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 21.

Outcomes and Competencies:
As part of the Business
department’s commitment to teaching effectiveness and ongoing student
learning outcomes assessments activities the following outcomes and
competencies have been developed for ACC 202:
Intended Course Outcome # 1: Students will demonstrate overall knowledge of the appropriate accounting treatment and application GAAP for the identified course topics in Intermediate Accounting II.
Course Competency: Students will demonstrate understanding of financial transactions and proper application of the accounting concepts involving inventory, fixed assets, investments, liabilities and leases.
Performance Measurement Instrument: A standardized departmental financial analysis project developed by accounting faculty that is based on the course learning objectives will be administered each semester. Information about the project can be found at the following web site: ACC 202 project. The project will be graded using a standardized solution and will count 10% of the student’s final grade. Your instructor will provide additional information about the project and its due date.
Intended Course Outcome # 2 : Students will demonstrate overall knowledge of the appropriate recording, treatment, and disclosure for advanced accounting topics and related issues presented in the course.
Course Competency: Students will demonstrate understanding of financial transactions and the application of accounting concepts involved with designated special topics by completing two critical thinking case studies.
Performance Measurement Instrument: Students will complete two standardized case studies to be assigned each term. The case studies will be graded according to a standardized grading rubric.
