Overview:
This certificate is
designed to provide new students, as well as, working professionals who
desire to start their own business with specialized knowledge that will help
them to better understand the issues that they may face and provide them
with the skills necessary for success.

The program will consist of the following courses:
ACC 110:
Entrepreneurial Accounting, is designed to address those financial issues
associated with the development and operation of a business. Emphasis is
placed on budgeting, analysis of financial statements, control measures, tax
issues, small business accounting software packages, among several other
equally germane topics.
CPT 170:
Microcomputer Applications, will introduce the entrepreneur to the Microsoft
Office Suite and better enable them to utilize the power of automation in
the operational aspects of their business. This course will also include an
exposure to the internet.
MKT 101:
Marketing, is designed to enable the entrepreneur to appreciate the nuances
of the problems of moving their product/service to market, attracting
customers, and selling the product/service. The entrepreneur will be
exposed to the necessity of developing a marketing plan, which supplements
their business plan.
MGT150:
Fundamentals of Supervision, is designed to teach how to supervise people,
particularly at the first-line management level. A leadership element will
also be included in this course.
BUS 121:
Business Law, is designed to address the Uniform Commercial Code (contract
law) as it is interpreted in South Carolina. The realities of “compliance”
will also be highlighted.
BUS 110:
Entrepreneurship, will include the realities of starting and operating a
business. The entrepreneurs will receive assistance in developing their
business plan.
