Important:
Students beginning their
first semester at MTC with no prior college credits should contact: Student
Advisement Center on Airport Campus (803-822-3388) or Beltline Campus
(803-738-7810).

You and Your Advisor:
Students are encouraged to
establish a close relationship with a faculty advisor in their major. After
acceptance to the college, first-time students are initially advised by the
Advisement Center and referred to advisors in their major field of study for
further advisement.
When Can I Be Advised?
Technically, students can be advised anytime throughout the semester and are
encouraged to do so if they have questions, plan to drop a course or have a
specific problem that requires the assistance of an advisor. However,
students can only register for classes at certain times throughout the year. Therefore, most students meet with an advisor during the open registration
period each semester.
How Do I
Schedule an Advisement Appointment?
During the open registration period, simply call the appropriate
Administrative Assistant listed below.
-
Accounting/Management/Marketing students wanting an appointment on AIRPORT Campus, please call Phyllis Barr at 803-822-3602; those wanting an appointment on BELTLINE Campus, please call Kat Kinnie at 803-738-7732.
-
Paralegal students, please call Jeanne West at 803-822-3594.
-
Criminal Justice students, please call Phyllis Barr at 803-822-3602
-
Human Services students, please call 803-822-3358.
Class schedules are available in printed form and on the MTC web site. To access on the web click here.
Do I need to
schedule a Graduation Check?
In order to ensure that students
have successfully completed all of the course requirements for their
intended degree, it is important for each student to schedule a "Graduation
Check" appointment with an advisor. This appointment should be made
the semester PRIOR to the semester you plan to graduate. In addition, it is
the student's responsibility to fill out and timely file the application for
graduation.
What is the registration process?
To register for classes, you do NOT need an advisor's signature on your
registration form IF you are a continuing student and meet both of the
following criteria:
-
You know which courses you want to take.
-
You have a program plan sheet for your major/certificate.
If you meet the above criteria, you can request to be approved for online registration (or web-enabled) and are NOT required to see an advisor. Note: Students must be out of 100 level (DVS) courses plus have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA in order to be enabled for online registration.
What are my advising options?
Option One: Self Scheduling:
YOU MUST BE WEB-ENABLE IN ORDER TO SELF-SCHEDULE.
If you choose to self-schedule you need to
decide which courses you want to take and have a program plan. In order to
be self-advised, you must have a current program plan. If you need a copy of
the program plan for your major, click
here.
Use the on-line
registration feature:
Please refer to the instructions located on the college's web
site. Use MTC
Online to help you register. Click to access
MTC Online.
Visit the Online Student Services (web-enabled students):
You may ask for assistance from the staff of Online Student Services for
general information, not advisement/scheduling approval, at the Airport
campus Take your program plan and registration form to the Student
Advisement Center on either campus (Room 222, Airport Student Center) or the
Beltline Campus (Room 227, Beltline Student Center) 243, Wade Martin
Building). Staff will show you how to log on to your MTC Online account, how
to access for the first time your Campus Cruiser email account, where to
start filing your FAFSA and how to do an open class search for an upcoming
semester. However if you are not web-enabled for online registration you
must contact your department for approval to register for the courses you
select.
Option Two:
Advisor scheduling:
If you need advice or don't have a program plan, please contact the
department secretary (referred to above) or a full-time business faculty
member to set up an advisement appointment. Do this early on in the
registration period or it may be difficult to obtain an appointment. Once
you have been advised, you still must go to the Scheduling Center and
process your registration. Please note that advisors cannot register you for
class!
When is
Data Entry open?
Data entry will be open Monday thru Thursday from 8:00 AM- 6:30 PM and on
Fridays from 8:00 am to 4:30 PM.
