In today's educational arena, it is not sufficient to have state of the art facilities or faculty who are leaders in their field; colleges must embrace the learner-centered approach to education which requires student engagement and student support for success as well as the use of assessment of student learning to continually improve programs and services.
It is the belief at MTC that learning occurs every time we open our doors and a course is offered. We acknowledge that focusing on student learning outcomes provides evidence of educational quality and student success.
Therefore, in 2010, we established the MTC Assessment Institute to assist in developing outcomes assessment measures, enhancing data analysis techniques and sharing best practices in order to improve student learning, thus ensuring continuous improvement.
MTC's Assessment Institute proudly presented its
first annual summer workshop designed for faculty, staff, and
administrators who wanted the knowledge and tools to successfully address
student learning outcomes including assessment of general education
competencies.The
one and a half day workshop was divided into four sessions.
Session B: Assessing GEC and AA/AS
Session C: The ABC's of Data Analysis
Session D: Getting Faculty Buy-in and an Overview of the General Education Assessment Process.
