PURPOSE AND CONTENT OF THE FACT BOOK As the college prepares to pursue the opportunities and challenges identified in its most recent strategic planning process, it is imperative that all administrators, faculty and staff members have access to current data and information that assists them in their decision-making processes. While the purpose of the Fact Book continues to provide statistical information to support Midlands Technical College’s administration in sound planning and decision making; the content of this and future editions has been designed to expand the information base available for college-wide use. To meet this expanded information need, the Fact Book is now divided into seven distinct sections. These include: General Information, Curriculum Student Enrollment Demographics, Curriculum Student Enrollment by Division and Program, Graduate Information, Continuing Education Enrollment, Finance Data and Economic Data. Several changes to this document are worth noting. First, the source of all enrollment information included in the Fact Book is now an official federal or state reporting document and where appropriate, data for the SC Technical College system institutions has been included. This allows the user access to more information as well as presenting the opportunity to make peer comparisons on a much broader scale. Second, demographic data on the college’s faculty and staff have been included. Finally, basic financial data from the college’s end of the year audit are also provided. This new format gives a more complete picture of the operations of the entire institution. General Information: These pages review Midlands Technical College’s history, provides the current statement of mission and list of program offerings; and includes the college’s organizational chart along with faculty and staff demographics and salary comparisons. Curriculum Student Enrollment Demographics: Section two focuses on curriculum student enrollment for the Fall 2001 to the Fall 2004 semester. Enrollment comparisons related to other South Carolina institutions along with an overview of student enrollment by ethnicity, gender, county of residence, campus, day/night and full-time/part-time status are provided. Curriculum Student Enrollment by Division and Program: Enrollment profiles, by division and program, for the Fall 2001 to the Fall 2004 semesters are provided. Each page includes full-time/part-time, day/night and continuing/new/ readmit status; along with ethnicity, gender, average age; section size; retention rates and graduate placement rates. Graduate Information: Section four provides information on graduates from 1999-2000 through 2003-2004 in regard to the degrees, diplomas and certificates awarded by the institution. Continuing Education Enrollment: The college’s Continuing Education division enrollment and CEU data from 1999-2000 through 2003-2004 are included in section five. Financial Data: Section six gives an overview of the college’s revenue and expenditures. Economic Data: Economic and population data for South Carolina and Midlands Technical College’s service area are included.
