CURRICULUM PROGRAM STATISTICAL INFORMATION

DEFINITIONS

Total Headcount – Total number of students enrolled in a technical education program.

FTE (Full-Time Equivalency) – Technical education program enrollment as expressed in full-time equivalency. Total number of credit hours divided by 15 and calculated to the hundredth.

Retention Rate – Percentage of students who either continued their studies or graduated from a specified program within two defined periods of time.

Graduates Available for Placement – Number of graduates minus the number of graduates who indicated they were not seeking employment at the time surveyed.

Percent of Graduates Placed – Number of graduates who found employment related/ unrelated to their program of study and those who continued their education elsewhere.

A listing of all MTC Degree, Diploma, Certificate and Cooperative programs of study are provided on page 10 of this document. Only technical programs with headcount during the Fall 2001 through Fall 2003 semesters have their statistics indicated on the following pages.

In previous years, the enrollment and demographic data presented in the MTC Fact Book were captured at the end of the fall semester drop-add period, while other data used in the division and program pages were captured as of “Official Reporting” dates. Using the end of drop-add data did not correspond with the official state and federal reporting dates and did not completely present the college’s fall term enrollments and demographics.

The enrollment data provided in this and future editions of the Fact Book, is based on a methodology of capturing data as of the state or federal official reporting dates and uses the definitions established by the collecting agencies. This change will allow for better consistency across all enrollment reports, will provide a more complete picture of the Opening fall semester enrollment and will allow the user the opportunity to make peer comparisons on a much broader scale.
