Guidelines for placement into
Developmental Studies Courses:
BEFORE ADVISEMENT:
- If RDG 035 is required, but the student has a WSAMP of 20 (ENG 100) or WSAMP of 30 (ENG 101), the student should retest on reading to determine if they can score into a higher level reading.
- If RDG 035 is required, but the student placed into MAT 100, MAT 101, MAT 102, or higher based on the Algebra score, the student should retest on reading to determine if they can score into a higher level reading which would enable them to take math.
- If RDG 100 is required, but the student has a WSAMP of 30 (ENG 101), the student should retest on reading to determine if they can score into a higher level reading.
- The exeception to 1 & 2 is students for whom English is not their native or only language. These students may need to be placed into English as a Second Language courses that are equivalent to the RDG and ENG courses. These students should be referred to Lisa Cheeks at 738-7612 for further assistance.
