PHYSICAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT PROGRAM
PHASE II

DESCRIPTION:
A program designed to prepare the student for entry into the profession of Physical Therapy at the PTA level. Successful completion of the program will allow the student to sit for the State Board Licensing Exam.

BEGINNING SEMESTER: Fall

CAMPUS: Airport

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS
  • Completion of PTA Phase I with GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Recommended High School (or College equivalent*) courses in Algebra, Chemistry, and Biology with a "C" or better. (*MAT 100, BIO 100, CHM 100)
  • Completion of 20 hours of observations and submission of evaluation forms and student paper.
  • Interview with the Physical Therapist Admissions Committee.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (current within 3 months of starting Phase II)
  • Completion of Health Form

 
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS: 80 credit hours (including 35 from Phase I).

PROGRAM NOTES:

  1. Emotional and physical ability to carry out normal activities of a physical therapist assistant as determined by the physical examination by a physician and completion of a personal health history.
  2. Students must meet all the specific entrance requirements of their program choice in order to be considered for acceptance.
  3. GENERAL ELECTIVES - Electives depend upon the student's educational goals and show wide variety. Credits may be selected from curriculum courses numbered 101 and above, excluding RDG 101, IDS 102 and COL 103.
