OFFICE SUPPORT SPECIALIST

DESCRIPTION:
The Office Support Specialist Certificate is a short-term program for people who want to enter an administrative support position but who do not want an associate degree. This program provides students training in the latest technological advances to keep skills current as well as provide those traditional job skills for re-entry into the office job market.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Basic keyboarding is still a skill necessary for successful completion in the AOT/OST program, AOT 105-Keyboarding is a prerequisite course for most AOT/OST courses. Students must take the keyboarding proficiency test.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of 33 credit hours is required to receive a certificate.
  • Students must earn a grade of "C" or better in all of the courses offered within the Business and Information Systems Technology departments for the grade to count toward graduation. This includes courses with the following prefixes: ACC, BAF, BUS, CPT, CRP, IST, LEG, MGT, MKT and AOT or OST.
  • Students must meet all exit program competencies for graduation from this program.

PROGRAM NOTES:

  1. A two-semester program.
  2. Program begins every semester on both campuses.
  3. Courses may be taken during any semester provided all prerequisites have been met.
  4. Although Mat 155 is not required for the certificate program, students must complete MAT 100 if the assessment test indicates it is needed.
