CRIMINAL JUSTICE TECHNOLOGY

DESCRIPTION:
A program designed to prepare individuals for employment in the areas of law enforcement, correctional systems, the courts, private security and juvenile services. The Criminal Justice program is also offered for students who are planning to transfer to a four-year college

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:

A minimum of 66 semester credit hours are required for graduation with an overall GPA of at least 2.0. A grade of C or better must be attained in every required Criminal Justice course.

PROGRAM NOTES:

  1. General Education course requirements may be taken during any semester provided prerequisites have been met.
  2. Students are strongly encouraged to follow the structured sequence of CRJ courses.
  3. Most required courses are transferrable to four year colleges for those students interested in pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. See the Criminal Justice Program Director for specific information.
  4. According to South Carolina law, persons cannot be certified as law enforcement officers until they reach the age of twenty-one.
  5. GENERAL ELECTIVES - Electives depend upon the student's educational goals and show wide variety. Credits may be selected from curriculum courses numbered 101 and above, excluding RDG 101, IDS 102 and COL 103.
