CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

DESCRIPTION:
This program provides a broad educational background which qualifies graduates to enter the wide variety of jobs performed by civil engineering technicians. Civil engineering technicians are called upon to assist with the design and construction of airports, bridges, highways, buildings, dams, electricity generating plants and distribution systems, pipelines, railroads, and water and sewage systems. Some of the jobs open to graduates are: draftsman, inspector, civil engineer's aide, contractor's aide and junior surveyor.

BEGINNING SEMESTERS:
Students may enter the program any semester; however, the Fall Semester provides optimum availability of courses for full-time day students.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of 76 semester hours are required for graduation.
  • In addition to college graduation requirements, a minimum GPA of 2.0 is required in all AET, CET, EGR, EGT, MET, and EET courses.

 

PROGRAM NOTES:

  1. In addition to textbooks and other consumable supplies, students will also be required to purchase a set of drafting instruments and an engineering type pocket calculator (approximate cost $120).
  2. Students who are not qualified for entry into MAT 110 should take Math depending on assessment test scores.
  3. Students planning to work on a baccalaureate degree should consult their advisor to optimize the transferability of courses.
