Being Involved

Midlands Technical College offers many opportunities to get involved at the school. I am currently a member of the National Technical Honor Society and Phi Theta Kappa, which are the major academic honor societies here at MTC. These two organizations offer meetings and various social events that members can attend. They also provide the opportunity to meet department heads and other influential members of the MTC staff. Also, let’s be honest, these types of organizations don’t look too shabby on a resume. I am also fortunate enough to have been selected to become a member of MTC’s Student Ambassador Assembly this year. Although I am very new to this program, I am enjoying this opportunity immensely. I feel that being a student ambassador gives me the opportunity to give something back to my school through volunteerism. It also gives me the chance to represent the college to the community and my fellow students. This is very important to me since I have had such a positive experience here. Also, it has given me the opportunity to meet with the president of MTC personally, and I have developed many new friendships and connections through this opportunity. At MTC there are also student advisory panels. This gives students at MTC the opportunity to have their voice heard on school issues that concern them. MTC provides many ways for students to be an integral part of the school. If you have an interest in getting involved or just voicing your concerns, then you can easily find a group or organization at MTC to do just that.
