Know Yourself – It’s Your Destiny

So, you want to go to college but have no idea what field you want to major in. That was me!!! Here’s how I figured things out. I started in the Associate of Arts program while I pondered on what direction to take.

You have to start somewhere, so do not be discouraged and do not allow people to pressure you into choosing your field. Ultimately you will be the one taking the classes not them. Pace yourself, and please stay involved in your course-making decision. Make sure you and your advisor are on the same page and you are not taking classes that will not help you reach your goal

I am in the Early Childhood program here at MTC. When I decided to enroll in that program I had already finished all the core requirements except for one math class. I was able to go straight into my field of study. Again, pace yourself. Do not take more classes than you can handle. You’ll be better off having a grip on two classes at a time, than taking five or six and not knowing which way is left or right!

Another point I hear fellow classmates make is “I am taking all these classes because I am ready to graduate.” But they are making Cs and Ds just so they can graduate. I say to them, “Well, I am making As. I am pacing myself because my goal is not to just graduate, but to graduate in EXCELLENCY.”

Key in life: if you take your time and follow the steps laid out for you instead off trying to run from those steps to get ahead (so you think), you will find that your ordered steps will lead you to YOUR DESTINY NOT SOMEONE ELSE'S! Think on that.
